<trannus_aran_>hmm, brassica chat (and the whole hostless CRDTs architecture) is very interesting
<trannus_aran_>It'd be nice if I could use this for my purposes (forum)
<trannus_aran_>but I wonder if the use case of potentially long-term persistent data even makes sense with them?
<trannus_aran_>I'm leaning towards it being desirable but ultimately unfeasible without significant jumps in complexity
<trannus_aran_>(cause like, even with block deduplication or some other form of GC, wouldn't the storage of encrypted data blocks become impractical?)
<trannus_aran_>like individual users can maybe take shallow vs deep copies of the forum history (cr*pto style x.x) but, then I'm kinda creating the same server-client relationship with extra steps?
<PuercoPop>My first idea would be having a long-lived (bot) participant record the logs like one does in IRC, it can be a message table in an SQL database. Although the eventual consistency might require rewriting some rows iiuc
<Gooberpatrol66>sneek: later tell trannus_aran_ have you heard of convergent encryption https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convergent_encryption
<sneek>Got it.
