<parnikkapore_x>scheme in the browser!!
<parnikkapore_x>anw what's left to do for Hoot in this case? ~or is it back to goblins?~
<parnikkapore>(test)
<parnikkapore_x>(xmpp bridge doesn't transfer attributes over -_-)
<Goober_patrol66>so my pipe dream about scheme in the browser is, a webpage downloads a script, and you can run guix in the browser to rebuild the script from source, to compare it against the source code
<Goober_patrol66>so web scripts become guix packages
<Goober_patrol66>don't know if that's possible at all, or if anyone's interested in doing it
<parnikkapore_x>I think it depends on what you mean by "script"
<parnikkapore_x>rebuilding minified/packed/consolidated JS sounds possible, but impractical as Guix has an aversion towards the npm ecosystem (and small+numerous dependency ecosystems in general)
<parnikkapore_x>rebuilding wasm binaries is another possibility, but would still require work (wasm-build-system, etc)
<parnikkapore_x>the more difficult part of that project would probably be everything else that Guix package builders run tbh (make, gcc, etc)
<parnikkapore_x>ACTION jots down Goober_patrol66 as the progenitor of the wasm-wasi-gnu triplet
<Goober_patrol66>lol
<Goober_patrol66>yeah i imagine most wasm stuff is cross compiled instead of built inside the vm
<dthompson>parnikkapore_x: re: what's left for hoot? a lot actually. we are getting close to finishing r7rs-small support and are entering "phase 2" to get all of guile working.
<dthompson>so while we have some basic scheme working, there's still a lot of gaps. some real big ones, too, like user defined record types.
<parnikkapore_x>ah kk, thanks for the answer
<jackhill>congratulations on the team expanding!
<dthompson>jackhill: thanks! we're excited. :)
<jackhill>for the Developer Relations Manager, are you looking for someone with experience doing that sort of work, or would it be okay for someone who thinks they might be able to grow into that role?
<dthompson>I'll let those that are actually doing the hiring answer that one
<jackhill>+1 makes sense
<dthompson>but in general, and this goes for all job postings, I'd say not to let the ideal qualifications in a job posting deter one from applying if they think they have relevant skills and are excited by the role.
<cwebber>jackhill: the requirements on the page are not exact
<cwebber>if you think you can demonstrate the capacity to perform the role, apply! but do so sooner than later :)
<cwebber>we are trying to move fast on this
<randy__>Please apply if you have any relevant experience. We are unlikely to find someone who ticks all the boxes.
