<nexussfan>Someone on one of my chats had an idea of X as a hurd translator :P <Darelelve>nexussfan: I think Wayland's approach is closer to the GNU/Hurd concepts than X11's. <nexussfan>Darelelve: Might be, but Wayland has an issue of 1) not having protocols 2) each compositor has their own custom protocols and 3) it's very linux-specific <nexussfan>Not having protocols being there are some missing protocols in official Wayland spec <Darelelve>nexussfan: I agree, Wayland is far from perfect, and the confusion surrounding protocols and compositors greatly hinders its development and adoption. On the other hand, it's likely that most GNU/Linux distributions will eventually switch to Wayland, so support for it would be very welcome... After all, FreeBSD has managed to achieve this to some extent. <Darelelve>By the way, I'm not a huge Wayland fan myself. I'm writing this from Cinnamon with X11, but I also have a single-board computer with RISC-V running Gnome with Wayland, and I have no complaints.
