<nexussfan>Well rumpusbDISK should support usb disks I hope
<chukwuma>Whenever I try to shutdown, the process freezes and its shows, `irq handler [11]: still 1 unacked irqs in entry fffffffdc012c00.
<chukwuma>I then do ctrl-c from my local terminal to kill qemu. When I start hurd again, I have to type fsck to repair disk.
<jab>so I guess that I am presenting a google summer of code presentation to some graduate and some undergrad students today. 90% of the presentation will be Google summer of code and maybe 30 seconds will be the Hurd. We'll see how it goes.
<Alicia>good luck!
<jab>thanks!
<yelninei>hi, does someone know how mesa-common-dev is built on debian? i need the GL/internal/dri_interface.h header for xorg but this seems to require -Dglx=dri in mesa which does not build for me?
<jab>the presentation went a-ok. Very short. I guess I just gave my first Hurd presentation. One college student expressed interest in a Google summer of code, but I don't that he will work on the Hurd.
<jab>sneek: later tell nexussfan Samuel told me that rumpusbdisk should support usb sticks. But I'm just trying to document how to do about doing that.
<sneek>Got it.
<jab>something like:
<jab>settrans /dev/rumpusbdisk /hurd/rumpuskdisk options
<jab>settrans -c ~/mnt/ /hurd/storio
<jab>settrans -c ~/mnt/usb/ /hurd/
<youpi>there's nothing particular to do
<youpi>it's already set up
<youpi>and disks show up as /dev/ud* and cd as /dev/ucs*
<youpi>ucd*
<jab>idk. Samuel told me that "disks show up as /dev/ud*, and cd as /dev/ucd*"
<jab>so rumpusbdisk should work for usb cd players too!
<jab>again, I just want to tell people how to use it on the wiki, because I currently do not know how to use it.
<jab>ok. I'm sorry to be the confused guy...but "cd /dev/ud1s1/" doesn't work.
<jab>well actually I haven't tested that.
<youpi>it's not a directory, it's a disk node
<youpi>just like /dev/cd0, /dev/hd0, etc.
<youpi>and then you mount it, just like any disk
<jab>ok. don't give me the answer. I'll look on the wiki. There's a mention of how to mount /dev/hd0s1 via settrans.
<jab>once I find that, then I should know the proper settrans invocation.
<jab>once I have that, and confirm that it's working, I'll add it to the wiki.
<jab>I probably won't get to it today.
<azeem>I installed Mike's diagnostic patch but I don't see any additional debug output when the VM hangs during Postgres' TAP tests
<jab>azeem: is this a debugging the system under heavy load type of a stress test ?
<jab>or is it debugging a system under lots of threads ?
<jab>or lots of I/O ?
<azeem>lots of I/O
<jab>gotcha.
<azeem>(I think)
<jab>:)
<jab>you know, sometimes I think too!
<youpi>therefore you are
<jab>I've actually got a great Rene Decarte joke by the way...feel free to ask me sometime.
<jab>I'm going to go do some shopping, make me some dinner, and then dive into "The Terror" by Dan Simmons. I'm really looking forward to my evening plans!
<jab>143 ya'll and good night!
<Alicia>good night jab
