<damo22>ok i got some more info from gnu_andrew, icedtea was a bootstrapping effort to get openjdk6 and 7 using gcj, so i should reuse that, it solves a lot of problems i am currently facing with missing bootstrap classes

<damo22>they pointed me to an old openjdk7 debian repo that has icedtea built in

<damo22>its just a tarball and debian folder, so i will create a git repo and start from that

<damo22>supposedly they used to bootstrap jdk7 using gcj

<Arsen>fwiw managarm recently ported openjdk17 so you could ask in #managarm-ports for experience
