<yang3>Hm, it seems that WIN 7 automatically turns up after DVD being inserted in the unit, it doesn't accept DVD as boot? I selected Boot order CD-ATAPI, Cd, HDD <yang3>do i need to disable / enable uefi somewhere? <yang>I burned the DVD with wodim -eject speed=3 dev=/dev/sr0 -v -dao /home/yang/GNUHURD/debian-hurd-i386.img <yang>Maybe it doesn't like the SSD drive ? <yang3>Gooberpatrol_66 I did change from "compatibility mode" to "AHCI mode" <diegonc>"/debian-hurd-i386.img" : isn't that the disk image? maybe you should burn the iso <yang3>diegonc isn't .img the same as .iso? <yang>well not quite, the installer fails... <yang>changing from "AHCI mode" back to "compatibility mode" starts the installer <damo22>.img is a raw disk image, not a iso9660 filesystem <damo22>they are not the same, the first one you can dd to an actual disk <damo22>the other one is a readonly image that is usually burnt onto a physical laser media <damo22>azert: i think i have something working <azert>damo22: looks cool, what is the speed up in boot time? <azert>I’m wondering if with smp this shouldn’t prompt us to have timers interrupt on all cpus and not just cpu0 <damo22>rumpdisk skips 1 second in my log waiting between wd0 and cd0 <yang3>This is the /etc/fstab file https://paste.debian.net/hidden/758bea93/ Do I put comment at the /dev/hd2 /media/cdrom0 ? When I power on the laptop, the CD/DVD unit keeps making spinning sounds, even if there is no medium in it, and boot goes really slow....if I open the CDROM unit, then the boot completes faster, so I was thinking how to maybe <yang3>disable the CDROM spinnings in the start? <yang3>also errors like "task /hurd/netdde 580 looked up a bogus port 82 for 2902 most probably a bug" appears on the console.
