<janneke>ACTION bisected the x86-linux build problem and sent a proper fix
<damo22>is IMCR register present on AMD?
<damo22>io port 0x22 and 0x23
<damo22>[1] "MultiProcessor Specification", Version 1.4, Intel Corporation,
<damo22> Order Number: 242016-006, May 1997, Section 3.6.2.1 "PIC Mode", pp.
<damo22> 3-7, 3-8
<janneke>headsup: that patch should have had subject [PATCH gnumach]
<solid_black>alright, I pushed my work at https://github.com/bugaevc/aports (see README.hurd.md)
<solid_black>gnu_srs azert anatoly: you expressed interest, see ^
<damo22>i need to take my t620 apart to reflash the bios, then i can test a fix that may make --enable-apic work
<damo22>has anyone else had trouble with gnumach crashing with --enable-apic on real hw?
<gnu_srs>Hi, can somebody write down notes from the GNU/Hurd New Year party?
<solid_black>should the gnumach package in Debian hurd-amd64 not be called gnumach-image-1.9-amd64?
<solid_black>where does the 1.8 and the 486 come from?
<solid_black>ok, no, 1.8 is the upstream version
<youpi>it should be called -amd64 yes, just hasn't yet taken the time to fix that
<solid_black>can/should the user32 build be a separate package too?
<youpi>I was wondering about that, need to think about it
<solid_black>sneek: seen gnucode?
<sneek>gnucode was last seen in #hurd 2 days ago, saying: sorry im a little late..
<solid_black>sneek: tell gnucode I've built gitea locally, and its alpine registry does work; I posted https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/pull/28899 to fix of the issues with it, the other one, https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/issues/26691 is trickier

<solid_black>...it's kind of pointless if it just echoes the message back immediately, isn't it
<youpi>it is supposed to notice that gnucode is not currently here, that's odd
<etno>solid_black: Isn't it "later tell" ?
<youpi>it's still odd to have a command that would tell immediatelly :)
<etno>I agree, but programmers, you know...
<janneke>sneek: tell youpi: yes, immediate tell is really weird, and especially so if target isn't present
<sneek>youpi:, janneke says: yes, immediate tell is really weird, and especially so if target isn't present
<janneke>sneek: botsnack
<sneek>:)
<youpi>sneek: later tell janneke hi
<sneek>Will do.
<youpi>well, he's here :)
<janneke>lol, hi youpi
<sneek>janneke, you have 1 message!
<sneek>janneke, youpi says: hi
<youpi>ah
<youpi>he says when you say something
<janneke>ACTION didn't know about the [immediate] tell feature
<solid_black>etno: ah! I see, thanks
<solid_black>ok then
<solid_black>sneek, later tell gnucode: I've built Gitea locally from source (not on Hurd though), it's really easy to set up, and their Alpine package registry really does work. Of the two issues with it reported on GitHub, one looked easily fixable, so I posted a fix https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/pull/28899, the other one https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/issues/26691 is trickier
<sneek>Will do.
<solid_black>sneek, tell sneek: loop?
<sneek>You just did.
<solid_black>damn
<youpi>:D
<dsmith>solid_black, I think the "tell" was supposed to useful if someone was ignoring you. You could bounce your message through the bot.
<etno>I am pretty sure there is a big bag theory scene about that. Or there should be!
<gnucode>helllo people!
<sneek>gnucode, you have 1 message!

<gnucode>solid_black: I personally find guix system to be the easiest distro to manage web services.
<gnucode>If they have a gitea service, that would be awesome.
<ThinkT510>surprised you'd want gitea over forgejo: https://forgejo.org/compare/
