<azert>Hi all!
<azert>tplaten is implementing gnumach in userspace, maybe not such a worthless effort. Could be interesting to see gnumach working on top of gnumach
<azert>since people in the past complained that gnumach is bloated, could be a way to migrate kernel components gradually to userspace
<azert>gnumach on top of Linux, on the other end, is meh.
<youpi>we have already migrated kernel components to user space, there's almost nothing left
<youpi>at some point, the kernel *has* to manage context switch, memory switch, and hardware access
<youpi>the policies can be pushed to userland, we already do this to some extent with pagers etc.
<Gooberpatrol66>sneek: later ask azert if he has a link to tplaten's project
<sneek>Okay.
<gnucode>sneek later tell azert What's the usecase for running gnumach atop gnumach?
<sneek>Got it.
<azert>Hi
<sneek>Welcome back azert, you have 2 messages!
<sneek>azert, Gooberpatrol66 says: if he has a link to tplaten's project
<sneek>azert, gnucode says: What's the usecase for running gnumach atop gnumach?
<azert>No I don’t have the link
<azert>gnumach on top of gnumach? Debugging perhaps
<azert>Darling peoples seem to run xnu Mach on Linux userspace, including ipc
<azert>Of course they do that just for binary compatibility, that is a non issue in the case of the hurd
<azert>sneek: later tell gnucode that I think sneek is fun
<sneek>Will do.
<azert>gnucode: works?
<azert>Certain bots automatically pick this format
<ThinkT510>what is sneek written in?
