<mihi>jrtc27, just for info, I found out that Debian Hurd's GNU Mach package contains a patch that adds a "$(ramdisk-create)" action which does exactly what I previously wanted. Not sure about why this is not upstreamed, though. <jrtc27>one of: not polished enough, forgotten about or the author hasn't assigned copyright to the FSF <mihi>or deemed unnecessary by Debian. That option is not used on the installed system, but only in the netinst ISO when chainloading via iPXE. (Probably there is no other way to access a rootfs in that scenario using GNU Mach's builtin drivers) <mihi>but I'm glad that I can just use that patch and don't have to implement it myself :)
