<ieure>Does anyone have EXWM working with home-startx-command-service-type? I set up the service and it works if my .xinitrc has "exec urxvt" in it, but executing the bin/exwm wrapper makes Emacs segfault.
<ieure>Emacs works fine if I log in through GDM.
<GalaxyNova>Anyone familiar with packaging Elixir applications on Guix?
<GalaxyNova>Particularly ones that fetch some dependencies through git those are always a pain
<jlicht>hey guix
<untrusem>GalaxyNova: there might be an guix importer for those
<untrusem>jlicht: hi
<untrusem>thanks for leading the release effort
<untrusem>the meeting are always at my sleeping time
<untrusem>haha
<jlicht>not leading just doing some admin haha, but thanks
<adanska>would any committers be able to take a look at https://codeberg.org/guix/guix/pulls/10708 ? I have been running a system with this PR for a couple days and it is working great!
<efraim>ieure: think ArneBab does something like that, if I remember irc<->mastodon blog posts correctly
<ArneBab>efraim, ieure: I use slim service type: https://www.draketo.de/software/emacs-tipps#exwm-session-guix-slim
<civodul>Hello Guix!
<untrusem>hi civodul
<adanska>hi!
<stampede_>hello
<stampede_>btw thanks untrusem for the merge
<stampede_>rocky first PR tbh
<untrusem>haha
<untrusem>may this first of 1000 more
<untrusem>be the first*
<stampede_>hopefully
<stampede_>i'm already looking to package noctalia-greeter and some other stuff lol
<illybytes>hey anyone else have issues with the yggdrasil service?
<illybytes>apparently it got updated in the repo and now i cant do system config because it complains about it trying to string-append "https_proxy" with #f
<illybytes>cnx: i can see ur online, maybe u could check out why it fails?
<illybytes>cus ur the one that commited the latest thing for it
<illybytes>gonna send a paste in a sec
<illybytes>hmmm debian paste is having issues
<illybytes>okay why tf are 3 diff paste sites slow loading 😭
<illybytes>paste.sh/P1nInr9a5
<illybytes>wait copied it wrong
<illybytes> https://paste.sh/P1nIr9a5#vjAL9rGcXp9UdcuMrRqDEI0F
<stampede_>well that's weird, if proxy is #f then the if statement should catch that hmm?
<stampede_>Is anyone here using $GUIX_PACKAGE_PATH env var? it doesn't seem to work when attempting to perform system reconfigure, but guix edit, guix build.. etc can find the packages and such just fine
<attila_lendvai>poor codeberg seems to be overloaded. pushing to my fork keeps failing.
<attila_lendvai>stampede_, you may need sudo -E in that context
<efraim>I use it as part of guix.vim but I don't think I've ever tried to use it with reconfigure
<stampede_>hmm, running guix repl also can't seem to find the modules with `,use`
<untrusem>attila_lendvai: I would recommend switching to agit workflow
<untrusem>to not hammer codeberg with storage requirements
<attila_lendvai>untrusem, thanks, noted. i'm contributing rarely, though.
<stampede_>ok so apparently GUIX_PACKAGE_PATH isn't equivalent to `-L`, even though the manual hints that they are equivalent
<attila_lendvai>i'm getting this from codeberg: remote: Forgejo: Internal Server Connection Error
<stampede_>I have to use GUILE_LOAD_PATH instead ...
<stampede_>is this intended?
<untrusem>attila_lendvai: yep people are getting that
<efraim>GUIX_PACKAGE_PATH doesn't work for guix repl in guix.vim either
<untrusem>stampede_: If you see any Mistakes in the manual, please make a pr, as it will be better for upcoming release
<untrusem>Next week’s focus will be on documentation, if anyone wants to help: proofread your favorite parts of the manual, and open an issue on
<untrusem> https://codeberg.org/guix/release-planning/issues if any part looks
<untrusem>wrong!
<stampede_>untrusem: honestly i think it should be the other way around on this issue. The GUIX_PACKAGE_PATH env var should be made to follow what the manual envisions, not that the manual should be changed to document current behaviour...
<efraim>were we supposed to be deprecating it? or did I just imagine that
<efraim>we probably discussed it and decided not to
<stampede_>I mean, i want to use it because i'm maintaining my own channel and would like to add that to loadpath instead of adding it as a channel so that i don't have to guix pull before i can use it configure
<stampede_>i mean i could make an alias for guix system reconfigure -L, but env var seems more ergonomic idk
<stampede_>untrusem: i have found like ~3 issues in documentation, plus 2-3 small points to improve, so i'll be sure to open issues next week on it when i get the time
<stampede_>do they each go on separate issues, or one big issue?
<untrusem>a single pr would suffice
<daenschi>im trying to use guix deploy to deploy a config from a GuixSD host to a GuixSD client, both servers identical and on the same commit of guix. When i deploy, i always get the error that my signing key is not trusted, but i added it to the client with the guix archive command. anyoen of you got another suggestion?
<charlesroelli>daenschi: you can set the authorized-keys in the configuration of guix-service-type, see Info node: (guix) Getting Substitutes from Other Servers
<daenschi>Thanks that was it! it was a bit confusing where to put it but it worked.
<daenschi>thanks!
<stampede_>QT declarative debug is now 1.07 GiB ....
<stampede_>ACTION stares in defeat
<untrusem>hello o/
<untrusem>can anyone tell me whats the error is from the image, its about a rust-sources dependency
<untrusem> https://share.durare.org/file_share/01a19da6-501b-75ce-ab60-00de1bd238e2/5eedf020-bb5b-4fd3-b662-fd84150cf126.png
<csantosb>Hi untrusem ! I have a whisper proposal for you to review, no hurries, guix/guix!12270
<untrusem>guix/ui.scm:1034:18: error: package:rust-enolib-0.8.0.2f6cda5: unbound variable
<untrusem>csantosb, ok will check later
<ieure>untrusem, Where does the error appear? If you're using the repl, maybe you haven't loaded the version of (gnu packages rust-sources) on disk into it?
<untrusem>so I am package something called hyper8, enolib-rs is the workspace dependency for it
<untrusem>when I do `./pre-inst-env guix build hyper8-cli`
<untrusem>I get this guix/ui.scm:1034:18: No variable named lookup-cargo-inputs in #<interface (gnu packages rust-crates) 7f7858e3d5a0>
<untrusem>so I tried to check rust-crates using `repl -i`
<yelninei>untrusem: Do you import rust-crates anywhere?
<stampede_>you are packaging it for guix or for your channel? untrusem
<untrusem>yelninei, stampede_: this is guix local checkout
<untrusem>yelninei: nope I haven't touched the modules
<stampede_>then you should import the rust crates first from the lockfile
<yelninei>i guess you have some cyclic modules either currently in guix or with your changes
<stampede_>cyclic modules in a rust package?
<ieure>stampede_, In the Scheme defining the Guix package for it.
<stampede_>normally you don't add modules or anything when packaging rust, since dependencies are all handled by cargo-inputs
<stampede_>yeah ieure i meant to say that cyclic module seems unlikely here imo, but yeah i could be wrong
<yelninei>if you get nonsenical scheme errors cyclic modules with toplevel variables is usally the cause
<Kabouik>stephen were you the person curious about the Guix port for the Pro1x? It's not done yet but progressing welk, it's already usable as a phone I would say but I am used to alpha mobile OSes. Here I have Phosh (mobile) and am working on a full Sway-based session that is shaping up well I think, with both keyboard- and touch-friendly utilities: https://imgur.com/a/J8aI4U4
<Kabouik>Next steps are fixing skeep (it can already sleep and be awaken by calls or sms but the cores still draw too much power, not deep sleep yet).
<Kabouik>My main issue so far is web browsers that have no aarch64 substitutes, as I'd likebtobtry them all to compare performance. guix deploy is convenient to cross-compile and deploy on the phone but cross-compiling is extra long too for browsers
<Heterochromium>Has CVE-2026-98432 (the Linux kernel TCP bug) been patched on Guix System yet?
<untrusem>yelninei: I haven't touched the imports at all so I don't if that's the cause, I just did the usual workflow, cargo generate > import stuff in rust-crates > define package > define workspace dependency
<untrusem>this was on top of current guix master
<untrusem>maybe cargo import messed up something?
<untrusem>I will clear things and try again tommorow
<untrusem>Kabouik: hmm yess our ci does not do it ig
<untrusem>I will try to do something about this
<stephen>Kabouik: that's pretty cool, are you blogging or otherwise writing about the process somewhere?
