<atheia>Good morning Guix, long time no see :-) <atheia>Nice to hear — nice to be here :-) <atheia>Civodul, sounds like another release is imminent? very exciting! <civodul>once core-updates is merged, i want to polish the installation image <atheia>can't wait to give it a spin on real hardware! <civodul>surely the first tests will look like dog food, but hey ;-) <atheia>I'm sure they will; but finally a good use for some of my old laptops lying around here… <civodul>no spare x86_64 laptop, so i end up rebooting when i want to run on the bare metal <atheia>Oh no — surely that ruins your emacs uptime stats! ;-) ***tschwing_ is now known as tschwinge
<davexunit>I'm trying to get notmuch packaged, still. their test suite just gives me so many issues, though. <civodul>yeah, that's often the most difficult part <civodul>do you know what the main problems are? <davexunit>I also want to test the VM image, but having KVM issues. :( <davexunit>civodul: in particular, one of the tests just freezes <civodul>it's frustrating when you have to dig in some other package's test suite <civodul>but then, you have that feeling of relief when you're done ;-) <davexunit>it's a json utf-8 test. I haven't yet figured out what it's doing to hang. <davexunit>the test suites uses emacs as well as a program called dtach, that I've also packaged. <davexunit>so I suspect the problem lies with the interactions with those programs. <civodul>davexunit: something like within 2 weeks, i'd say <davexunit>civodul: thanks. that will help me partition my time appropriately. <davexunit>I don't want a release to go by where I don't have any commits! <civodul>everyone on this channel should have at least 10 commits! ;-) <davexunit>I wish I had more time to learn how guix really works instead of just write packages, but life is just so busy. <civodul>we must also make it more amenable, i guess <davexunit>NixOS was featured in this month's volume of "Linux (sic) Pro", btw. maybe Guix can make it in, someday. <jmd>Everyone on this channel should be committed. <davexunit>it also had an article about reactive programming, which was cool to see. <civodul>indeed, that's unusual in this kind of technical magazine
