<PurpleSym>rekado_: Working well so far. Is there any reason not to include the patches in the default RStudio package? (Except for the extra menu item.) <zimoun>I remember a change about Python build-system by PurpleSym. Is it only on core-updates? I am not able to find it. Someone could point me where to look? <PurpleSym>zimoun: The sanity checks? They’re on core-updates. <zimoun>PurpleSym, thanks. The sanity checks is what I had in mind. <zimoun>About the new build system, arf! Definitively, we–I include myself–have an issue about the review process. Two months without any reply or discussion… <PurpleSym>Well, it’s a big chunk and it’s in a very rough shape, so I can understand why no-one has looked at it. <PurpleSym>Still, some discussion would be nice, because I’m sure I missed alot of use-cases. <zimoun>I speak for myself and I know why the patch fell into my cracks. I simply find a pity to not have been able to apply it to my tree, test it and report. It would be a first step. Anyway. :-) <civodul>i'm not super confident about Python things <civodul>PurpleSym: perhaps worth explicitly pinging people who you think are familiar with this area? <civodul>i know Hartmut had ideas about Python packaging <civodul>apteryx (Maxim) worked on the PYTHONPATH stuff in core-updates <PurpleSym>Yeah, Maxim would’ve been my first go-to person here. But I think I have to rebase it first after your gexp changes. <rekado_>PurpleSym: the only reason not to include the patches is that in Guix we don’t really carry feature patches. <rekado_>there is a chance that my patches do something silly or introduce subtle bugs and so people may want to only install the vanilla RStudio.
