<PurpleSym>rekado_: Are you okay with the blog post on guix-science as is?
<civodul>hello!
<civodul>anyone submitting to the FOSDEM HPC devroom https://lists.fosdem.org/pipermail/fosdem/2020q4/003112.html ?
<civodul>(deadline today)
<civodul>pigx, gwl, web UI, system services anyone? :-)
<civodul>plop
<rekado_>if I submit a talk proposal today I’ll actually have to work on the gwl so that I can talk about it
<rekado_>not sure I can do that
<rekado_>PurpleSym: haven’t read the blog post draft yet, but I’ll try to do it tonight
<civodul>rekado_: presenting it as it is may also be interesting
<civodul>sorta like you did two years ago
<civodul>(?)
<civodul>i thought i could submit a talk about packs, or about reproducible paper workflow
<civodul>does that make sense?
<rekado_>both are good topics
<rekado_>another is performance improvements
<rekado_>eg https://gitlab.inria.fr/guix-hpc/function-multi-versioning
<civodul>yeah, but it's not fully baked
<rekado_>I submitted this:
<rekado_> https://elephly.net/paste/1608066524.html
<rekado_>GWL talk
<civodul>rekado_: yay, LOVE IT!
<civodul>i like the idea of starting a general discussion around workflow languages and "co-evolution"
***rekado_ is now known as rekado
*civodul didn't submit anything in the HPC track
<civodul>i'll pass for this year
<rekado>compiling rstudio takes so long…
<rekado>and I don’t even mean with Guix
<rekado>I have a checkout that I’m working on and I use cmake
<rekado>perhaps my changes to that one file trigger excessive rebuilds
<rekado>civodul: I’m glad you like the proposal! I think discussions of co-evolution of workflow languages are the best we can hope for when it comes to the GWL.
<rekado>too often software is presented as a solution and people start discussing … syntax.
<civodul>heh, right :-)
<civodul>i also find more open discussions on the problem space interesting
<civodul>though as hackers we like to build actual solutions
<civodul>i really enjoyed the "distri" talk because it took that approach of discussing the issues rather than offering "the" solution
