<TheTaoOfSu>Are there plans to implement Windows support? I've seen some things googling that kinda imply it might happen, but I don't see anything concrete either way <AwesomeAdam54321>TheTaoOfSu: LilyPond has a build process for Guile IIRC, and some of the changes have already been included <TheTaoOfSu>AwesomeAdam54321: oh interesting, I assumed LilyPond just used it for scripting <TheTaoOfSu>I'm enjoying Guile and would love to stick with it, but I can't deny being able to target Windows would be nice for public projects <TheTaoOfSu>I'm considering trying another Scheme dialect, but I don't really want to bounce around a ton <ArneBab>(that pull request includes a list of further PRs needed, so it’s rather like a tracking bug). <ArneBab>TheTaoOfSu: the expert from the lilypond side is hahnjo. <TheTaoOfSu>ArneBab: that seems like some nice work. I'd also be pretty okay with just being able to compile for Windows on Linux, but being able to actually run the compiler on Windows directly would be great <ArneBab>You’ll need to check what already works -- I don’t have any windows to test that. <old>TheTaoOfSu: Windows support is WIP and I would like us to have it done for the next release 3.0.12 <old>But we also need a way for contributors and maintainers to tests on Windows <old>It's useless to add support for Windows if it breaks one commit later <old>and there's no way for us contributors/maintainers to know <TheTaoOfSu>old: oh so it's actually potentially pretty close, that's cool. I have a couple Windows environments in the house I could use to test if that would help <TheTaoOfSu>I'm still not super familiar with Guile or Scheme in general, but if access is the issue, I'm happy to do a little legwork if there's a test suite I can run or some things I can try with a little guidance <TheTaoOfSu>I personally prefer not to use Windows, but I'd still rather be able to target it with a Scheme, and I'd prefer it be a GNU Scheme if possible <old>TheTaoOfSu: I can't say if it's close. I'm blindly following Windows users with their PR. I haven't actually tried to run Guile on Windows. I don't even own a machine with Windows on it <old>By blindly I meant, I don't test it myself. I do test it on Linux <dsmith>Not many Guilers do windows. Mainly just the lillypond folks <TheTaoOfSu>I don't blame them, but I'd still prefer to at least be able to build for it. Windows users deserve FOSS, too ;) <JohnCowan> the trouble comes when someone finds a bug and the Windows maintainer is unavailable
