<wleslie>having fun
<ijp>mark_weaver: you might appreciate http://math.andrej.com/2007/09/28/seemingly-impossible-functional-programs/
<JudgeDreadlock>ijp what is your opinion of Carson Becket's Scottish accent?
<ijp>never heard of him
<ijp>honestly, I don't care that much about people's accents
<JudgeDreadlock>Hmm
<JudgeDreadlock>A lot of scotts do it seems
<JudgeDreadlock>probably because Scottish accents are amongst the worst imitated in film history.
<Profpatsch>Are there tutorials for version 2 of Guile somewhere?
<Profpatsch> https://www.gnu.org/software/guile/docs/guile-tut/tutorial.html This is for 1.8.7
<Profpatsch>Or has the API not changed?
<ijp>I think the tutorial was removed because it was out of date
<Profpatsch>ijp: Over here it’s still linked as the only tutorial.
<Profpatsch> https://www.gnu.org/software/guile/docs/docs.html
<ijp>I don't know of a replacement
<ijp>Profpatsch: I meant from the distribution, but it seems it is still on the website
<Profpatsch>ijp: I’m not new to Scheme (did a bit of Racket), is there a simple overview of the way Guile does things somewhere?
<ijp>Profpatsch: I think there are some small examples at the start of the manual, but nothing quite as long and involved as that
<Profpatsch>Just from a scripter’s perspective, no need for a tut on how to extend a C application.
<Profpatsch>Something like a http://learnxinyminutes.com/ guide would be nice.
<Profpatsch>ijp: Or could it be that I simply have to look at general R5RS for an understanding of the features?
<ijp>there is a section on scripting in the manual, but I think it just covers the shebang, and command line args
<ijp>Profpatsch: r5rs has basically nothing
<ijp>I don't know what to tell you, I already knew how to use scheme when I started using guile, and so I just dove straight in, and looked up functions as necessary
<Profpatsch>ijp: I see. Maybe that works for me too, then.
<Profpatsch>I assume you started contributing to an existing project?
<ijp>yes, guile
<Profpatsch>:)
<ijp>If you look through the archives, you'll find a patch of mine to vector-move-left! which I did about a week or so into using guile
<Profpatsch>Thanks.
