<amk9>is guile-figl using openvz ?
<amk9>it doesn't look like it is
<mark_weaver>no. guile-figl is guile binding for opengl.
<mark_weaver>do you mean openvz the virtualization thing?
<amk9>I asked the question to a co-worker why nobody seemed to use openvz and he told it was crap
<amk9>sorry not the good open*
<amk9>I mean the vertor accellerated thing
<mark_weaver>the two projects seem totally unrelated to me. I'm not sure what made you think they might be related.
<mark_weaver>oh, I see.
<amk9>openVG of course ;)
<amk9>this page is recent https://wiki.mozilla.org/OpenVG
<amk9> http://www.embedded.com/design/real-world-applications/4410726/Introduction-to-OpenVG-for-embedded-2D-graphics-applications
<mark_weaver>a grep of openvg in the guile-figl source yields no hits, so I guess there's no support. my knowledge of modern graphics APIs is fairly weak I'm afraid. one of these days I need to rectify that.
<amk9>«auto infotainment displays» that is a buzz word
<amk9>actually several
*davexunit picked up the little schemer at the MIT bookstore today.
*davexunit is having quite a lot of fun
<mark_weaver>that's a fun book
<davexunit>I saw the Scheme Programming Language book too, but I passed on that one for today.
<mark_weaver>the seasoned schemer is also quite good, and the reasoned schemer is especially interesting.
<davexunit>I don't think the bookstore has any of the others for sale. I guess I will order online when I want them.
<mark_weaver>I'm pretty sure I bought my copy of the reasoned schemer at the MIT bookstore as well, but that was several years ago.
<davexunit>I could have passed over it since I wasn't explicitly searching for it.
<davexunit>the little schemer is displayed very prominently in the computer science section
<davexunit>which is nice to see
<mark_weaver>I'm glad to hear it!

<youlysses>Has there been any-more news on this -- http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/guile-user/2013-01/msg00132.html ?
<youlysses>Or really any general non-SCWM based window-managers in Guile.
*youlysses really does want to see a compositor for wayland one-day, in guile.
<stis>heya guilers!
<stis>How small can a general operator parser be? Look at
<stis> http://logic.cse.unt.edu/tarau/teaching/ProgLang/2009/yfx_operator.pdf
<stis>enjoy!
<shanecelis>Who maintains the SWIG guile code?
<dsmith>swig? Probably no one.
<add^_>at least I think it's pretty uptodate, so someone has to have updated it..
<mark_weaver>what makes you think that?
<add^_>It was uptodate last time I used it.. Not that I've used it for a while but I'm pretty sure it was for guile 2.x
<dsmith>Wow
<dsmith>I've had the impression it hasn't been relevant for guile since around guile 1.4 or 1.6.
<add^_>Also, the manual says it's for 2.0.x
<add^_>So there.
<add^_>:-P
<add^_>Sorry, I'm a bit tired--
<add^_>..
<mark_weaver>fair enough :) though the fact that it works with 2.0 doesn't mean that it needed updates. but I guess at least the manual has been updated so that's something.
<add^_>True
<add^_>:-)
<mark_weaver>anyway, I haven't seen any discussion about work on swig in guile circles in the last few years.
<add^_>Heh
<shanecelis>mark_weaver: Yeah, I had checked it out a while back and it definitely didn't work with guile 2.0, but it seems to be working now, even the C++->Goops side.
<mark_weaver>ah, okay.
<shanecelis>It does throw out some warnings with use of deprecated functions, but overall it's not in bad shape.
