<vasi>I think I've finally finished my investigation of bootstrappable distros! Repo is here: https://codeberg.org/vasi/bootstrappable-distros and I've added a page to the wiki: https://bootstrapping.miraheze.org/wiki/Bootstrappable_distros
<stikonas>vasi: thanks! Documentation is always good and we often don't produce enough of it
<snuik>Welcome back stikonas you have 1 message
<snuik>stikonas, fossy says: do you recall why we didn't use metaconfig for the earlier perls?
<stikonas>fossy: kind of
<stikonas>fossy: it probably needs perl
<stikonas>so first perl you need to bootstrap manually
<stikonas>but more importantly, you didn't figure out how to use metaconfig until later
<stikonas>so perhaps it could be investigated with some of the earlier perls
<fossy>:+1:
<fossy>ok cool
<fossy>because I am finding a few missing pregend files in our perl bootstrap
<fossy>ranging from trivial-quite problematic
<matrix_bridge><Andrius Štikonas> fossy: in later stages or earlier?
<matrix_bridge><Andrius Štikonas> and we still need to figure out mpfr... https://github.com/fosslinux/live-bootstrap/pull/522
<matrix_bridge><Andrius Štikonas> somehow it causes problems in python 3.11
<stikonas>so something is not identical after regenerating...
<lanodan>"Yikes" indeed, is there any distro which removes the pregen files? (I just checked and both gentoo and guix doesn't)
<lanodan>s;files;bits;
<lanodan>vasi: I think buildroot could also be added in the list of distros given there's Yocto/OpenWRT/…
<lanodan>Ah "no working dev tools in target" of course I only see that now
<stikonas>lanodan: no, only live-bootstrap, but it's not really a distro
