<oriansj>Googulator: well we have https://libresilicon.com/ which one would just need to bootstrap that process to be able to make chips to get the level required in relatively short time.

<oriansj>nikolar: yeah, one definitely could do a 386 or better on the 1 micrometer process they published. or with some cleverness an AMD64 chip and you could skip the floating point in hardware if one is willing to trap the floating point operations and do them in software.

<oriansj>it'll be dog slow but that isn't an issue for a first generation bootstrapping chip. 100khz is powerful enough to run machines needed to make a 10Mhz chip and after that everything can go a great deal faster.
