<fossy>hey
<stikonas>not sure if you saw, there is a vote
<stikonas>whether to stay or move
<stikonas>oriansj: is collecting the votes...
<fossy>stay/move on?
<fossy>freenode?
<stikonas>yeah...
<stikonas>stay on freenode or move to libera
<stikonas>well, oriansj decided that we'll decide by majority of developer vote
<fossy>I think move to librea
<vancz>o/
<drakonis>the future... is libera
<stikonas>well, most likely. But if we agreed to have a formal vote then we should finish with it
<stikonas>no idea what's the current tally is
<stikonas>probably getting close
<oriansj>current tally is: Developers: stikonas, xentrac, bauen1, Melg8, gforce_de1977, deesix, V, and myself; for [support} votes we have: vagrantc
<oriansj>if I missed anyone's vote let me know but so far only support votes have been cast
<oriansj>and looks like fossy cast the majority vote.
<oriansj>The majority of developers have opted to move so that is the final decision.
<oriansj>So what remains is the outstanding question of where to move to that a couple people wanted to suggest alternates to libera.chat.
<oriansj>So to respect that please list any alternate IRC servers you desire before 1PM Saturday UTC. So that we can present the options and make the final decision but in the meantime libera.chat will be the temp discussion place until we make our final decision collectively.
<oriansj>look less time then I expected for a majority of developers to vote
<Melg8>i like nix approach as alternative - matrix (https://github.com/ryantm/rfcs/blob/matrix/rfcs/0094-use-matrix-for-official-chat.md)
<oriansj>Melg8: it certainly can be added to the list of proposed alternates for people to opt or not.
<Melg8>oriansj btw, thanks for systematic approach to decision making with this transfer problem.
<oriansj>Melg8: I figured it would be more fair than someone playing dictator and much better of an outcome than the community splitting over such a minor difference.
<oriansj>Current list of alternates: Libera.Chat, matrix:#bootstrappable, oftc.net

<rekado>oriansj: looks like you forgot my vote, but that’s okay :)
<rekado>(because I also support the move to libera.chat, obviously)
<fossy>please not matrix
<fossy>matrix is a very different platform to irc
<fossy>a matrix bridge is whatever, that woul be fine
<oriansj>fossy: personally I agree with you and V there, however it has been requested as an option everyone will be able to vote on each of them using: https://github.com/oriansj/stage0/blob/master/HACKING#L119 once all the options are in.
<stikonas>yeah, I'm fine on staying here (at least for now). Especially since guix is also on libera, I don't think moving elsewhere would help. As for matrix, I think for now it's better to just bridge it to this channel (I guess matrix will have bridge to libera sooner or later)
<ekaitz>hey! I think I have hex0 working on riscv assembly
<Melg8>ekaitz that's great news!)
<ekaitz>:DDDDD
<theruran>ekaitz: congrats! great work :D
<ekaitz>now I have to assemble it LOL
<theruran>hehe
<theruran>>:D
<ekaitz>I think I'm going to need some help with the ELF related stuff in the future
<theruran>make yourself a cheatsheet, I guess
<theruran>@ekaitz did you read vertigo's two blog posts on ELF?
<theruran>not sure how helpful they would be though
<stikonas>ekaitz: congratulations!
<ekaitz>i also thought it was a good idea to have a working high-level prototype, because in the original in_set is not defined
<ekaitz>how do you feel about this: https://github.com/oriansj/stage0-posix/pull/26 ?

<oriansj>rekado: could you please do the following on freenode: https://paste.debian.net/1198386/
<mihi>ekaitz_, I would have either copied the version from M2libc or changed the build script to link against it: https://github.com/oriansj/M2libc/blob/main/bootstrappable.c#L55-L66
<ekaitz_>oh I see but having separate projects all the time makes all this kind of messy doesn't it?
<mihi>yeah, probably it got broken in the last M2libc refactoring. All those functions used to live in https://github.com/oriansj/M2-Planet/tree/09acd6253d3a1c81468f42ed3d23b9c4606e52c3/functions earlier
<mihi>just to make it clear, your pull request is definitely an improvement as it is now, too :)
<oriansj>ekaitz_: well yes but largely because different people need only different subsets of the functionality. For example right now MesCC only uses the hex2, M1 and blood-elf bits of mescc-tools
<ekaitz_>oh i see
<oriansj>it also makes adding circular dependencies in any of the pieces much more difficult as one can't add functionality and depend upon it at the same time.
