<christianbundy>is there very much collaboration between guix and nix on the bootstrapping problem?
<lfam>christianbundy: I'm not working on bootstrapping directly but I do work on Guix. As far as I know, the answer is no. There is not much collaboration in between Guix and Nix in general
<lfam>There is collaboration between the Bootstrappable project and Guix, so there may some collaboration "transitively"
<christianbundy>lfam: That makes sense. I've been asking around in NixOS circles and it doesn't sound like they're super into the bootstrapping problem? Dunno.
<lfam>Yeah, I don't follow Nix closely but I don't think they are concerned with that sort of thing
<lfam>As far as bootstrapping is a free software concern, one of the motivations to create Guix was that Nix did not really care about software freedom very much
<lfam>I mean, they do care about it. But just not as much as Guix and GNU
<jelle>we have had a Nix-er working on bootstrapping with janneke at the last reproducible builds summit
<janneke>jelle: that is xwvvvvwx
<jelle>I forgot his name :(
<janneke>see also https://github.com/xwvvvvwx/nixpkgs; see the mescc branch
<jelle>neat!
<janneke>it would be great to get that going
<janneke>there's also something (much older here): https://github.com/edolstra/nixpkgs @mes-stdenv-bootstrap
