<old>is GOOPS for Guile Object Oriented Programming System?
<old>I don't see it defined anywhere in the manual
<dsmith>It is,
<dsmith>It used to be a separate thing. Later included. Maybe the original docs had it and it got lost while integrating.
<dsmith>old, http://gnu.ist.utl.pt/software/goops/goops.html
<old>it does say: GOOPS is the object oriented extension to Guile. Its implementation is
<old>but the sub-title: The Guile Object Oriented Programming System
<old>is missing
<dsmith>It does say it in the link I posted
<dsmith>Yes, missing in the current Guile manual.

<old>+1
<ArneBab>dsmith: would you mind if I created a PR from that?
<ArneBab>or just pushed?
<ArneBab>dsmith: https://codeberg.org/guile/guile/pulls/6
<sneek>wb janneke :D
<tennoseremel>Is it possible to suppress auto‐compilation messages without disabling it?
<lloda>tennoseremel: there's a patch in the upcoming 3.0.11 to deal with that https://gitweb.git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=guile.git;a=commit;h=78e9e51065c23bc755e669295c46537a5e988791
<lloda>release should be soon
<tennoseremel>lloda: Ah, I see. I’m using Debian so no idea when I’ll get it, but it’s nice that eventually it will come :)
<lloda>it's been a popular request for a long time
<tennoseremel>Understandable. I’ve recently upgraded to Debian 13 and all my scripts went “Hello there” in the output (^ ^)
<dpk>is there any way in Guile to find out how big an object is in bytes (including the objects it references?)
<dsmith>ArneBab, Cool! What do you think, use "Guile" or "@guile{}" in that?
<ArneBab>dsmith: I’m not sure … what’s the difference?
<dsmith>In the end, nothing. I'm guessing the macro is only to ensure consistency capitalizing "Guile".
<dsmith>Just that some people might care about such things? I think it's fine as is.
<ArneBab>dsmith: I switched the patch to using @guile{}
<rlb>read-enable and print-enable settings are currently just completely global, i.e. not dynamic/fluid, right?
<sneek>Yey! dsmith is back :)
<dsmith>sneek, botsnack
<sneek>:)
<ArneBab>On Sep. 27th this year, it will be 42 years since the first announcement of GNU. Are there plans for celebrations?
