<galex-713>Hi
<galex-713>davexunit, hi, how’s going Sly
<galex-713>(I’ve got an X200 so normally I should be able to run sly)
<galex-713>davexunit, btw, your certificate is outdated
<ArneBab_>what does it mean when my compile of Guile 2.2.2 says madvice failed: Function not implemented ← this is on the Hurd
<ArneBab_>or rather: is that a fatal defect?
<nalaginrut>ArneBab: ah, you're playing Hurd again
<sneek>nalaginrut, you have 1 message.
<sneek>nalaginrut, amz3 says: I'd like to improve support of guile-git for your use case? Can you describe in more details the design of the file based database?
<cmaloney>tzag
<nalaginrut>sneek: later tell amz3 I found it's easier to use pipe for git operation rather than using guile-git, and the blog engine is almost done, compatible with tekuti. Fortunately, Artanis works smoothly.
<sneek>Will do.
<ArneBab>nalaginrut: yes. It works and with -enable-kvm it’s nice and fast.
<ArneBab>nalaginrut: and I can make subhurds: boot a hurd in a hurd.
<paroneayea>hello #guile
<atw>ArneBab: what hurd stuff are you doing?
<paroneayea>o/
<civodul>howdy paroneayea!
<paroneayea>hi civodul :)
<paroneayea>civodul: how you doin?
<civodul>i'm fine, thanks!
<civodul>feeling too busy for these sunny days
<civodul>and you, how's everything?
<paroneayea>civodul: things are pretty good... no meetings today because USA holiday means I am getting things done ;)
<paroneayea>civodul: some more people are doing activitypub implementations, which is good. I nearly have the first part (ha) of the test suite ready to go, which also means that Pubstrate as an actual implementation itself is also getting pretty nice
<civodul>oh right, July 4th
<civodul>nice that there are more implementations!
<civodul>i guess that's one of the key things, getting more people to try out the spec
<paroneayea>yeah
<civodul>and they're testing against your server, right?
<paroneayea>civodul: testing against the test suite. technically, I'm writing two things right now, and unfortunately they're both in the pubstrate package for timing reasons
<paroneayea> - the test suite (which borrows a lot from pubstrate's general code, and has some stub fake-activitypub bits in it)
<paroneayea> - the actual activitypub server
<civodul>i see
<paroneayea>but pubstrate is coming along pretty nicely. doesn't transcode or do any of the fancy media processing of mediagoblin, but it can display those types of image/video/etc http://dustycloud.org/gfx/goodies/video-in-pubstrate.png
<paroneayea> http://dustycloud.org/tmp/pubstrate-ellen-terry.png
<paroneayea>I really need to redo the database stuff though
<paroneayea>it's currently using... erk... gdbm :)
<paroneayea>I'd like to switch it over to postgres and use postgres' jsonb support
<paroneayea>need to get that supported in guile-squee or something though, not a lot of time for that
<paroneayea>last night my brother came over and we watched wingo's recent talk on fibers and csp, which was nice. spent a good amount of time talking about it
<paroneayea>I still need to test implementing 8sync on top of Fibers. only so much time though...
<paroneayea>civodul: guix seems to be going nicely lately!
<civodul>oh, nice screenshots
<civodul>Guix is doing nicely though there so many things to address!
<paroneayea>I guess that happens with ambitious projects :)
<civodul>:-)
<civodul>i haven't seen wingo's talk yet, but definitely something i should do
<civodul>we don't get wingo talks in the "usual" venues anymore ;-)
<civodul>ACTION -> zZz
