<nalaginrut>morning guilers~
<davexunit>morning
<nalaginrut>heya
<nalaginrut>davexunit: ah~I forgot to check guile-sdl itself
<nalaginrut>will fix soon
<davexunit>okay no rush :)
*gzg` is trying to build Guile 2.0.9 on his newer Debian box and is running into http://paste.lisp.org/display/140043 , any ideas?
<gzg`>Too tired to do any real basic reasoning...
<davexunit>libgc issue?
<gzg`>davexunit: Weird, I ran ./configure again and now it seems to be building ...
<davexunit>hmmm
<davexunit>beats me.
<davexunit>I'm not so good at troubleshooting that stuff.
<nalaginrut>gzg: I think you need newer libgc
<davexunit>especially since I don't know the inner workings of guile very well.
<davexunit>yeah, there is an issue with a particular version of libgc that debian was/is packaging.
<gzg`>Woops, now stops at building libguile.
<nalaginrut>libgc7.2d or more
<nalaginrut>or higher
<gzg`>nalaginrut: Does Debian 7.2 ship that?
<nalaginrut>gzg: I don't know, because mine is debian/Hurd
<gzg`>nalaginrut: Native?
<nalaginrut>and I can't check it at present now ;-P
<nalaginrut>gzg: I'm not sure the word "native", but it runs on a physical machine
<gzg`>nalaginrut: Nice! Laptop or Desktop?
<nalaginrut>now it's Desktop
<nalaginrut>I found an older machine, but not weak
<nalaginrut>there's a bug for Guile on Hurd, but I&braunr fixed it
<nalaginrut>so Guile is OK on Hurd now
<nalaginrut>but I don't know if the newest update was added to the repo
<nalaginrut>anyway, it's not Guile bug, but glibc
<gzg`>Is ld shipped in binutils?
<gzg`>I wish Guile had it's own recent repo, like Emacs via Naquadah.org on Debian.
*gzg` wonders how bad his system would break if he just wen testing...
<nalaginrut>gzg: you mean a git repo?
<nalaginrut>I think it's on guile's main site
<gzg`>nalaginrut: Like a package repo.
<gzg`>For Debian*
<nalaginrut>oh~you may try guildhall
<b4283>nalaginrut: i think he meant something like ubuntu's ppa
*gzg` is just going to risk going to Debian testing.
<gzg`>b4283: Pretty-much.
<b4283>debian must have an old version of guile
<nalaginrut>alright, actually there's similar one on OBS
<davexunit>I <3 debian testing on my laptop
<gzg`>nalaginrut: OBS?
<nalaginrut> https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:NalaGinrut
<gzg`>davexunit: On Stumpwm? Last time I tried, it was broken.
<gzg`>nalaginrut: Ah.
<nalaginrut>I built such a repo for 'always latest' guile stuff
<nalaginrut>in case some guys want to try it
<nalaginrut>but lacking time on it
<nalaginrut>;-(
<nalaginrut>anyway, it support both deb/rpm
<davexunit>gzg`: I'm not using stumpwm currently, but I have in the past: http://dthompson.us/stumpwm-on-debian-wheezy.html
<nalaginrut>but I'm not familiar with deb
<nalaginrut>rpm is OK for me
<gzg`>davexunit: On testing?
<davexunit>yeah
<davexunit>perhaps I should amend that title to say Jessie
<davexunit>instead of Wheezy, but maybe Wheezy wasn't stable yet.
<gzg`>Yup, risking it.
<davexunit>so with GOOPS, it looks like I can benefit from generic methods without ever having to write classes?
<nalaginrut>davexunit: hmm...factory? I think generic methods is enough
<davexunit>I am writing an asset cache for guile-2d
<davexunit>and I want it to be extensible so it cache any arbitrary type of asset.
<nalaginrut>sneek: how's paste ?
<nalaginrut>?
<nalaginrut>davexunit: if you need a factory, this is a weak way for that http://pastebin.com/b9MVKpeM
<nalaginrut>but I believe there's no need for FP to do it so bad...
<mark_weaver>davexunit: yes, generic functions work fine on non-GOOPS types.
<davexunit>cool.
<davexunit>time for bed. good night guilers.

<zacts>hi guile hackers!
<civodul>Hello Guilers!
<gzg`>civodul: What time is it over there, it's ~02:10 in the MidWest US.
<b4283>gzg`: you should be sleeping
*gzg` is actually about to try and go to bed...
<gzg`>b4283: Often easier said than done tough. :^P
<civodul>gzg`: 09:09 here :-)
<civodul>AM
<b4283>west coast in the us?
<civodul>Western Europe
<b4283>nice
<gzg`>civodul: Yup, assumed "24 hour time" anyways. Explains why I only rarely bump into you. :^)
<gzg`>Well, I'm going to actually attempt some sleep. Peace people. o/
*gzg` is AFK.
