<dsmith>wingo, Greetings!
<wingo>:)
<tupi>would you consider a file extension being the part following the last dot or the first dot, like in haralick.tif.16.csv, would it be [by 'convention'] tif.16.csv or csv ?
<dsmith-work>tupi: And what of foo.tar.gz ?
<tupi>precisly, what would be the answer? is there a 'convention'?
<tupi>i'd think it is anything after the first dot but ...
<dsmith-work>In the bad old days of msdos, the '.' was a *separator*. Was not part of the name, but rather syntax. So "extention" was very clearly defined.
<dsmith-work>Posix systems, '.' is just another char. Have as many as you want. Assign whatever meaning you want.
<dsmith-work>Bah. left
